{Bloggers Recommend} Favorite Books Set In Countries Other Than the US and UK

Megan @ Write Meg
Tasmania and Australia really come alive in Wildflower Hill by Kimberley Freeman, a book that had everything I love in a novel: an excellent love story, a vibrant setting, characters to love and root for, and people who change. A combination of contemporary and historical fiction, Wildflower Hill is a book I never wanted to end - it's one of those stories I wished I could hop inside and live forever. {Review}

Wildflower Hill (Book)The Juliet Club (Book)

Liz @ The Book Girl Reads & Reviews
The Juliet Club by Suzanne Harper. This book was a total swoon-fest. It's always been my sappy dream to fall in love in Italy and send my own letter to Juliet in Verona. This novel was one of the first romances I ever reviewed, and I'm so glad. It'll make even the most cynical readers sway on their feet - promise. {Review}
Bev @ My Reader's Block
DeKok and Murder on Blood Mountain by A C Baantjer (Holland/Belgium). Inspector Dekok follows a trail of murder from his native Holland to Blood Mountain in Belgium--solving an old mystery in the process. {Review}

DeKok and Murder on Blood Mountain (Book)Jellicoe Road (Book)

Misty @ The Book Rat
Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta, set in Australia, and number9dream by David Mitchell, set in Japan, are 2 of my favorite books ever! I highly recommend the former as an emotionally charged read {Goodreads Reviews}, and the latter really brings really brings the atmosphere of Japan to life {Goodreads Reviews}
Jess @ Gone With Words
I loved River of Time series by Lisa T. Bergren, which is set in Italy. Incredibly picturesque and richly described. Definitely recommend it! {Goodreads Reviews}

River of Time (Book)Outlander (Book)

Molli @ Once Upon A Prologue
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. Although the book starts out in present day Scotland, Gabaldon takes her readers on a romantic, brave, fierce journey back to 1700's Scotland, where for protagonist, Claire, she's in constant danger as she tries to acclimate to her new surroundings. I LOVED the setting, the pacing, the love story, and the taste of Scottlish life.
Have you read any of these or have any recommendations of memoirs that are absolutely fantastic reads?

My favorite (from 2012) Daughter of Smoke & Bone, set in Prague. I like books where the country is part of the story - and not where it could have been set anywhere.
