{Bloggers Recommend} Books That Are Short and Sweet

Jamie @ The Broke and The Bookish
Sloppy Firsts by Megan McCafferty. I read it SOOO quickly - in fact, it made my list of Top Ten Books I Wish I Could Read Again for the First Time. And, if you are looking for a shorter book that isn't a "page turner" by definition, The Lover's Dictionary by David Levithan is another book I would recommend - BEAUTIFUL! {Review}

Sloppy Firsts (Book)We Have Always Lived in the Castle (Book)

Misty @ The Book Rat
We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson is one of those books that I just keep thinking about and want to re-read and even re-review. I feel like there's something new I could say about this quirky, dark little book every time I read it, but most of the new things would just be me gushing ... It has some of the most memorable characters in any of the books I've read, and packs so much atmosphere in less than 200 pages that it just sort of takes over your brain. {Review}
Jenny @ Let Them Read Books
The Adventures of Alianore Audley by Brian Wainwright. This is the most original and hilarious historical fiction novel I've ever read. If you're into medieval times, Plantagenets, and Tudors, you have to read this tongue-in-cheek observation on the War of the Roses and the social mores of the times. I guarantee you'll enjoy it! {Review}

The Adventures of Alianore Audley (Book)Savage Season (Book)

Bob @ The Guilded Earlobe
Savage Season by Joe R. Lansdale. Savage Season is short, under 200 pages, and around 5 hours in audiobook time, but I don't know if I would call its brutal action and off color humor sweet. What it is though, is the introduction to one of my favorite crime fighting teams, Hap Collins, a regular guy trying to overcome his redneck origins and Leonard Pine, a gay African American living in the not so accepting East Texas. The beauty of this series is the often hilarious yet endearing relationship between these two oddly coupled best friends. I listened to this before I began blogging, but I reviewed the latest edition of the series here: {Review}
Jonathan @ I Read a Book Once
Murder and the Married Virgin by Brett Halliday. Always under 200 pages, the Michael Shayne series of mystery novels features the roguish, wise-cracking private detective Mike Shayne (of course). They're are a time capsule of hard-boiled goodness from the 1940s and 50s. Formulaic? Sometimes, but I don't mind. Vintage crime stories are one of my great loves, and the Michael Shayne series embodies everything that made that era of mystery. {Review}
Do you have any recommendations to add to this list? Or have you read any of these mentioned?

Yay! I actually just mentioned We Have Always Lived in the Castle again in a video I did about underknown and underrated books.
Glad to hear I'm not the only fan. =)

I have the Brian Wainwright book on my shelf but haven't read it yet. Based on Jenny's rec I need to move it up the TBR list. Thanks for the reminder!

I love the cover of We Have Always Lived in the Castle, it's one I've wanted to read for awhile!

I have several Halliday books that I purchased for the Robert McGinnis cover art. I really should get to reading one of them.

So agree on We Have Always Lived in the Castle. It is a charmingly dark little book and one I too need to re-read.
