I love a good, traditional, cheesy romance novel - but I'm not talking about those right now. This list of books is about humans falling in love with ... well, you just have to see for yourself.
5 Beyond Weird Love Interests in Books
The Evolution of Bruno Littlemore, Benjamin Hale. A woman falls in love and has a relationship with a chimp, a.k.a. Bruno Littlemore. This book is 600 pages, and while I thought it could have used a bit more editing, this is one story that will stick with you for a long time.
Book Summary: Bruno Littlemore is quite unlike any chimpanzee in the world. Lydia takes Bruno into her home to oversee his education and nurture his passion for learning & painting. But for all of his gifts, the chimpanzee has a rough time caging his more primal urges. His untimely outbursts ultimately cost Lydia her job, and send the unlikely pair on the road in what proves to be one of the most unforgettable journeys -- and most affecting love stories -- in recent literature. As She Climbed Across the Table, Jonathan Lethem. A woman falls in love with her science experiment - sounds like the beginning of a bad novel, but the author massaged me right along, making everything seem very believable and even the ending - which was like wtf?! ... left me thinking about it a few days after.
Book Summary: Alice Coombs is a particle physicist, and she and her colleagues have created a void, a hole in the universe, that they have taken to calling Lack. But Lack is a nullity with taste--tastes; it absorbs a pomegranate, light bulbs, an argyle sock; it disdains a bow tie, an ice ax, and a scrambled duck egg. To Alice, this selectivity translates as an irresistible personality. To Philip, it makes Lack an unbeatable rival, for how can he win Alice back from something that has no flaws--because it has no qualities? (Goodreads | Amazon)
Warm Bodies, Isaac Marion. A zombie falls in love with a human girl - personally, I couldn't do it ... other than the whole "not attracted to the living dead thing" - the thought of becoming zombie food would be on my mind at all times.
Book Summary: R is a zombie. He has no memories, no identity, and no pulse, but he has dreams. He doesn't enjoy killing people; he enjoys riding escalator and listening to Frank Sinatra. He is a little different from his fellow Dead. After meeting Julie, a human girl who the zombie "R" impulsively saves and hides away in an abandoned plane, he begins to experience thoughts and feelings that he'd forgotten he'd ever had. Anna Dressed in Blood. A guy falls for a ... ghost ... or rather, he has an attraction to one. I loved the plot surprises, the pace of the story is fast moving, and the book is action packed. Anna is both a killer and a victim, a horrible monster and an innocent girl.
Book Summary: Cas Lowood kills the dead. He travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn't expect anything outside of the ordinary: track, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he's never faced before. (My Discussion | (My Discussion | Amazon| Goodreads)
Triptych, J.M. Frey. A man, woman & alien have a 3-way marriage. I had a hard time getting into this book at first but once Kalp (the alien) starts telling his story - I was hooked until the end; so I ended up really liking the book.
Book Summary: Gwen and Basil Grey are Specialists for the Institute, an organization set up to help alien integration into our societies. They take in Kalp, a widower who escaped his dying world with nothing but his own life and the unfinished toy he was making for a child that will never be born. But on the aliens' world, family units come in threes, and when Kalp turns to them for comfort, they unintentionally, but happily, find themselves Kalp's lovers. (My Discussion | Goodreads | Amazon)

Great post had a good laugh. I think it is great work when an author provides you with a more than weird story but can make you believe it is perfectly normal.
