Debut Author Love 2011

I usually don't pay attention to whether or not an author is newly published, or has been writing books for a long time - all deserve love in my opinion! But inspired by a question over at The Broke and the Bookish, on authors I wish would write another book, I decided to look at first time authors whose books I adored in 2011 - and who I would love to see more from in the future.

5 Debut Authors Whose Books I Read and Loved in 2011

SJ Watson, Author of Before I Go to Sleep
{website | blog}

Watson finessed the story so I wasn't thinking about how believable or not believable the theory was (waking up everyday not remembering the past), and I wasn't looking for holes. Instead he made me connect with the main character and want to follow her journey ... and I liked where it took me - plot twists and all. This is one of my Favorite Books Read During 2011.

Isaac Marion, Author of Warm Bodies

First book and it's being made into a movie - hell yeah! The book is weird but interesting. It's about a zombie going through an existential crisis and slowly realizing that he wants a little bit more than to be a walking corpse.

Erin Morgenstern, Author of The Night Circus
{website | blog}

The writing of this novel is beautiful and although the story moves along at a leisurely pace, I felt connected to the characters and invested in the outcome. Is there really a circus that's only open at night? If there was - I would sure as hell be first in line to go - I love spooky stuff like that. - although I get scared easily!

Beth Revis, Author of Across the Universe
{website | blog}

The cover of the book made me think that this is a love story - but it's so much more. 17-year-old Amy joins her parents is frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awaken on a new planet, 300 hundred years in the future, but somebody woke her up 50 years too soon - and there's a whole lot of mess going on - lots of interesting drama and sub-plots.

Eleanor Brown, Author of The Weird Sisters
{website | blog}

This story was about the dynamics of families & siblings - 3 sisters. This was a sweet, beautifully written book that I couldn't put down.

The Weird Sisters looks interesting, and I love the cover.

Across the Universe wasn't one of my favorite debuts of 2011, but I still preordered the second in the series. The story has great potential.

Great list, and I love that you included book trailers :)
