I've read all the books on my list of 10 Enticing Book Covers of 2011 - and I thought I would share my thoughts on whether the book was as good - better - or worse than the covers.
Are the Books As Good As the Covers? {Finishing the 2011 List}

Imaginary Girls, Nova Ren Suma. The book is as good as the cover promises!
Ooh - I just loved this book. It kept me guessing as to what was really going on in the story, and although I was left with a few unanswered questions at the end, overall, I loved the book and highly recommend it - and I hope there is a "prequel" (see more of my discussion of the book).
Before I Go to Sleep, S.J. Watson. The book is as good as the cover promises.
Another book that I adored! Actually, the book cover clued me that something wasn't quite right from the beginning - and this book also kept me guessing about what was really going on. It's one of my Favorite Books Read During 2011.

The Magician King, Lev Grossman. This is a tough one. The book did deliver a magical story as the cover promised, but I was infuriated with parts of the book - so I'm going to have to say this cover was better than the book. {see more of my discussion}.
The Night Circus, Erin Morgenstern. The book was as good as the cover promises!
I loved the fantasy and the world that this book created. I was invested in the characters and the outcome of their stories. Such a lovely, well written book and the author, Morgenstern is one of 5 Debut Authors Whose Books I Read and Loved in 2011.

Map of Time, Felix J. Palma. The cover is better than the book.
This book cover certainly promises a time traveling mystery - and it delivers. But it seemed that there were 2 separate stories told in the book - and the first story, the first half of the book, was much better than the 2nd half.
Anna Dressed in Blood, Kendare Blake. The book is just as good as the cover promises.
The girl on the cover is spooky, and the book synopsis promises a riveting mystery - and that's what we got! I loved the plot surprises, the pace of the story is fast moving, and the book is action packed {see more in Weekly Reading with Anna Dressed in Blood and The Alchemist}.

A Monster Calls, Patrick Ness. The cover is a bit scarier than the book - but I loved both!
This book should be giving to every young person that is dealing with loss of a friend or family member and should be in every school library. It's well written and very moving. Ness is one of 10 Authors I Read in 2011 That I Want to Read More From in 2012.
Full Dark, No Stars, Stephen King. The book was as good, although not as creepy as the cover.
King does as an excellent job writing in vivid detail to bring the stories to life. I love (well written) short stories, and I love Stephen King.

Kindred, Octavia E. Butler. The book is better than the cover!
Although the cover does have a ghost like quality, the story is so much more complex than than the cover portrays. And the book made me hunger for more from Butler! She's another of the 10 Authors I Read in 2011 That I Want to Read More From in 2012.
Across the Universe, Beth Revis. The book is better than the cover
There was much more to the book than a romance, which is what the cover implies is the main theme to the story - and although I love the cover - I'm so thrilled that the book was even better. The 2nd book, A Million Suns, came out in January - see January Book Release Excitement.
Have you read any of these books - what do you think - was the cover better or worse than the book?

Wow you have tougher skin than me! I thought Full Dark No Stars was super duper scary!! And I agree, A Monster Calls wasn't as scary as the cover but a fantastic read.
I love the cover for The Magician King! Too bad it didn't match up :-/
