Since I still have quite a few books left over from my November Library Loot (Part 1) and Part 2), so no more books for me in December. But I'm still having fun picking books that my 8 year old reluctant reader will like.
December Library Loot For My Young Reluctant Reader (1)
After getting some excellent non-fiction books in our November Library Loot for a Young Reluctant Reader, I stuck with that theme and got Polar Bears, Mark Newman and Journey into the Deep: Discovering New Ocean Creatures, Rebecca L. Johnson.
Polar Bears was a hit. It was short enough that we read it in one evening, and lots of gorgeous pictures - especially the one that shows what big teeth polar bears have (say that in a Little Red Riding Hood voice).
Journey into the Deep was more of a hit with his 12 year old brother, who is a voracious reader, as it's a bit advanced in the language used. He's actually been reading the non-fiction titles I got for his younger brother, and loving them, and has put in a request for more of these types of books.

WEEKLY RECAP
- I shared what I read last week, and what I'm looking forward to reading in Weekly Reading with Some Outlaw-ish Types. Plus, the books I want to read from The Best Books of 2011 Lists.
- There's a new weekly feature on this blog called Bloggers Recommend - 1 question, 5 answers from 5 different bloggers. This week - {Bloggers Recommend} A Book Series That Will Have You Hooked From the Beginning.
- Visiting countries via reading - My Reading World in 2011; and the 2012 European Reading Challenge {Plan}.

Glad to hear that both of your boys are enjoying the nonfiction books - looks like you've chosen some good ones! My own reluctant reader (13) actually listened to a recommendation from his brother (!) and is not hooked on The Last Apprentice series. We normally have to nag him daily to read for school, so this is such a nice change!
