I do have a self-imposed ban in effect for December - to not request books from the library or purchase any books, since I got way too many in November that I'm still working on reading. But, a few titles that I've been waiting for did come in - and of course, there's the kids books.
December Library Loot (2)
For Me
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, Michelle Hodkin. Been waiting for this for 6 weeks from the library - not going to wait too long before I read it as I've seen so many positive reviews.
Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there. It can. Since that day she's been having flashbacks and nightmares. In an attempt to stop her from reliving the past Mara and her family move to Miami Florida. She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed. There is. She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love. She's wrong.
The Scorpio Races, Maggie Stiefvater. So excited to get to this - already read the 1st few pages, and I'm hooked.
It happens at the start of every November: the Scorpio Races. Riders attempt to keep hold of their water horses long enough to make it to the finish line. Some riders live. Others die. At age nineteen, Sean Kendrick is the returning champion. He is a young man of few words, and if he has any fears, he keeps them buried deep, where no one else can see them. Puck Connolly is different. She never meant to ride in the Scorpio Races. But fate hasn't given her much of a chance. So she enters the competition - the first girl ever to do so. She is in no way prepared for what is going to happen.
For the Young 'Un

April and Esme, Tooth Fairies, Bob Graham. Such a cute book about young tooth fairies on their first mission.
Won-Ton : A Cat Tale Told in Haiku by Lee Wardlaw; Illustrated by Eugene Yelchin. I think this book might have spawned an obsession as the young 'un is now only speaking in "haikus."
Mouse & Lion by Rand Burkert; Illustrated by Nancy Ekholm Burkert. Cute story which he read in class before. Might be time to get to some small chapter books.
What book are you excited about reading over the Christmas holidays - will you even have time to read?!
