May 2012 Reading Recap

In May, my reading focused largely on finishing up Reading the 2011 Nebula Awards Nominees {2012 Reading List} in time for the announcement of the winners, which took place on May 19th. Of course the books I predicted to win didn't - but it did lead me to some interesting books. The rest of the month focused on The 2012 Locus Awards Finalists for Best First Novel {A Reading List}.

Favorite Book: The Kingdom of Gods, N. K. Jesmin. his book was just the right amount of crazy, and I loved it! The characters are deep, complex, and intense; the World building is crazy good - gods, godlings, power, magic, people who have it and have abused it, and people who want it and more ... {discussion}

Least Favorite: The Replacement, Brenna Yovanoff. I liked the unique setting/ World, with the creatures living under the town, and a baby being replaced every 7 years to keep them prosperous, but te story dragged on and on and never lived up to it's promise ... {discussion}

I keep hearing conflicting opinions about The Replacement so part of me wants to read it and the other part of me thinks I shouldn't bother!
