Jamaican Sorrel and Ginger Tea {Drinking} Bitterblue {Reading}

Food is a big part of my life - I studied it, I teach it and, of course, I eat it (sometimes way too much of it). So consider this a weekly share of a salad (or soup or ... something healthy) that I'm loving at the moment - plus the book that currently has me hostage.

Jamaican Sorrel and Ginger Tea {Drinking} and Bitterblue {Reading}

Consuming: Jamaican Sorrel and Ginger Tea - one of my favorite teas, ever!!! Sorrel comes from the petals of a species of Hibiscus (according to Wikipedia). We Jamaicans make a drink from it at Christmas time only, but now teabags of it are available of it year round, and I LOVE it. That rich red color tells you one thing - antioxidant power my friends (anthocyanins & ascorbic acid). And yes - I drink tea even in the HOT summers - I just do it only in the early morning when it's usually cool.

Jamaican Sorrel and Ginger Tea

Reading: On page 364 of Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore. Almost finished and it's fantastic so far. This is book 3 in the series, and it definitely helps to remember/ re-read book 1, Graceling, first (but not necessarily book 2).

Thinking: I'm really enjoying summer so far. It's been HOT but how can I complain when I'm at the lake 4 days a week in July. While the kids do their swim team practice, I read or dip my big toe in the water. And I finally put out a workout playlist on IntheGym.net - No Excuses Workout Playlist!

I love hibiscus tea in general so I think I would like this!

I'm not a coffee drinker, so tea in the morning is sometimes a must. Luckily for me I have a great tea shop a half hour away! I really enjoyed Bitterblue, but I do wish I had reread the previous books...it got a bit confusing trying to remember what had happened to whom.

I definitely felt as thought I wanted to reread Graceling after I finished Bitterblue.

I love tea but I have to admit I'm unadventurous with the different flavours! I only drink it in winter when it's icy cold here.

I am a bit of a tea purist and even though it is not 'real' tea, I would love to try it. I wonder if Amazon has it....

I've never had sorrel tea... sorrel anything, come to think of it! It sounds lovely, though, and I'm all about ginger and Christmas drinks. I too drink hot beverages in the middle of summer. *grin* Thanks for sharing!

We've had a rainy summer. Very relaxing.

Here's my first ever

Hope you will stop by!

I've grown sorrel for salad and cooking greens but I've never had sorrel tea. I'll have to look for it.

Sorry it took me so long to visit your post. I was out of town and didn't have Internet access.
