Kiwi, Mango, Pineapple Fruit Salad

Food is a big part of my life - I studied it, I teach it and, of course, I eat it (sometimes way too much of it). So consider this a weekly share of a salad (or soup or ... something healthy) that I'm loving at the moment - plus the book that currently has me hostage.

Kiwi, Mango and Pineapple Fruit Salad {Eating} Before I Fall {Audiobook Listening}

Consuming: A breakfast fruit salad with kiwi slices, plus chunks of mango & pineapple. Summer is my favorite time of year partly because I get to indulge in lots of different types of fruit - strawberries, grapes & what we call "June Plum" in Jamaica - are my favorites!

Kiwi, Mango, Pineapple Fruit Salad

Listening to: Before I Fall, Lauren Oliver. Narrated by Sarah Drew. I'm really not a fan of contemporary young adult books, so I wasn't hooked on this at the beginning, but with each passing chapter (now on chapter 4), I'm liking it more and more.

Audiobook Week 2012Thinking: I'm 100% LOVING Listen Up! It's Audiobook Week 2012, hosted by Devourer of Books - happening since Monday, June 25th. Today's writing prompt asks about narrators - favorites and any preferences - single narrator, multiple narrators, full cast, etc.

I'm such a newbie that I don't have any preferences or favorites as I haven't listened to a narrator more than once. But (and I'm sorry you have to see me mention this book yet AGAIN), the narrator for Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor - Khristine Hvam did an AWESOME job with the voices & the accents - and she really sticks out in my mind.

This looks really lovely! "Before I fall" is a book I would love to read, hugs from Anette in Norway :)

That breakfast looks delish! One of the things that saves summer for me, seeing as how I'm not a fan of the heat/humidity, is the abundance of mouth-watering-good fruits and vegetables. Every time we go to the Farmers Market or to the grocery store it is like going into a candy store as I know we'll be coming home with such yummy stuff. I'm really going to miss all this come winter.

I don't have a single narrator vs. cast of narrators preference. I've heard many very good readings with both present.

It is getting to the point where I can't tell how many blogs I've seen praising DAUGHTER, because it *might* just be the same couple of blogs over and over.

Now I wish I had Daughter of Smoke and Bone on audio! I just bought the print copy of the book, but have now been seeing lots of good things about the audiobook.

I also have Before I Fall in print ... it looks like a lovely book!

Boy does that fruit look good. So refreshing for this heat. I haven't yet read or listened to Before I Fall, but it's on my list.

I love hearing about audiobook newbies! I've been listening since the days of cassettes.

The salad looks so fresh! And so good!
I've never listened to a book. I should, I think I'd enjoy it.

It's great to see a fruit salad that isn't just all melon! Can't stand melon.

Enjoy your book!

Your salad looks wonderful. I love fresh fruit in just about any combination.

I love pineapple when it's so sweet; that photo is giving me a craving.

Your fruit salad looks absolutely mouth-watering! I've been living in a hotel for the past six weeks and am absolutely craving fresh fruit other than apples and bananas!

BEFORE I FALL is one of those novels that takes a few chapters before a reader can really get into it. The main character is just so unlikable! Listening to it on audio has to bring an added twist to the novel. I'll be curious what you think of it when you finish it!

I only listen to a narrator more than once when I listen to a series. Which has only happened once so far. Now I do search for audiobooks by the narrator. Because if you get a bad one, it is so awful.
