#WeekendReading {The Killing Moon} And Eating {Waffles}

Eating: Waffles! Can you believe I've never made waffles before? I didn't have a waffle maker until my husband decided for his birthday last month (Jan. 23), that he just had to have chicken & waffles. So off he went to buy one. Now a few weeks later, I pulled it out and made waffles for breakfast for Valentine's Day ... but I'm hoping he doesn't pull it out to make waffles for our anniversary (Feb. 23). I like waffles - but those suckers are THICK, soak up a lot of syrup, and it's kinda messy to make them.

I used Bisquick Pancake & Baking Mix (very bland), added a few teaspoons of honey + Nocciolata Crema di Cacao e Nocciole Rigoni diAsiago - super delicious like the creamiest chocolate you'll ever taste in your life!

Weekend Reading: The Killing Moon, N.K. Jemisin. On page 13/404. I've only read one book by Jemisin before - The Kingdom of Gods - and I enjoyed it immensely (see Weekly Reading In The Freedom Maze and The Kingdom of Gods). Since that time, I've wanted to read her other books, so I'm starting with The Killing Moon.

In the ancient city-state of Gujaareh, peace is the only law, and the Gatherers, the keepers of this peace. Priests of the dream-goddess, their duty is to harvest the magic of the sleeping mind and use it to heal, soothe ... and kill those judged corrupt. (Amazon| Goodreads)

@sim - you're so right about the waffle maker being a pain to clean up!

I'd never actually ate waffles until the other day. They were tasty, I imagine them to be a pain to cook though!
Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Mmm, wafles are wonderful!! This weekend I'm pretty sure we will be having tacos - it's an all time favorite! The book I'm reading now is Kerstin Gier's last book in the series of three about timet travelling Gwendolyn and Gideon, and I love it :)

Waffles! There aren't many things better than waffles and a great book. The single best waffle mix under the sun is Carbon's Golden Malted. You can buy it on Amazon. (It's the same mix the hotel restaurants use when they charge you $20 for a waffle.)

@Jennifer - ooh thanks for the waffle mix recommendation! The one I used is definitely not all that good.

The waffles look good, but they look like a pain in the tookus to clean up.

I've never tried that author so I'll have to add them to the ever growing list of authors to try.

That post made me think of Donkey out of Shrek - so I had a bit of a giggle there for a moment.
Hope you enjoy the book.

Waffles are amazing but I agree the clean-up could be easier. It's one of those foods I am more than happy to eat out of the house.

I am trying to get through The Host because I have to read a book before seeing the movie. I like the concept but the story is moving so slowly for me. Hoping the movie will correct some of the issues with the book.

Sounds yummy! Our latest waffle maker broke last year - we need to get a new one. I was just realizing I hadn't made waffles in a long time.
