Reading the 2011 Award Winners Book Challenge

This year, I'll be selecting books that won literary awards in 2011 - some in the "literary fiction" category - not a genre that I love, but maybe I'll find books that change my mind; and some that won genre fiction awards - will I agree or disagree with the judges and the masses, that's the question! Feel free to follow along - leave a comment below letting me know if you do so.

If you Do want to participate: Choose the level you wish to participate at.

Level 1 - Gold - Read 10+ books
Level 2 - Silver - Read 6 - 9 books
Level 3 - Bronze Read 1-5 books
Here's a list of a few Literary Awards to get you started on selecting your books.

I wish I were better about reading award winners, but it seems like if I read them it's more by accident than by design. :) I will think about this challenge though. I haven't decided how many I'm going to do next year yet.

Another good literary award is the Giller Prize, it's Canada's most prestigious award.

I'm going to join you. I need to decide my level and write my "commitment" post. (I love your use of the term commitment.) I'll be back with a link.

Such a cool challenge! I'll start with Level 3. Maybe I'll read more than that, but it's better to have a realistic aim ;)

Bex | November 16, 2011 5:52 AM | Reply

this is probably a stupid question, but do they have to be books that won awards in 2011? Or can it be any book that won an award, ever?

Tanya Patrice | November 16, 2011 6:52 AM | Reply

Hey Bex - good question. The book does have to be an award winner - I know it limits it a bit, but we can discuss whether we agree or disagree with the choice.

Love this idea - I'm going to shoot for the Bronze to begin with until I decide how many challenges I am going to participate in.

Welcome to the challenge Tracee!

Hi Tanya, I'm ready with my "commitment" post. I'm going to (gulp) aim for Level 1. Most of my book reviews will be posted at a group blog (Quirky Girls Read). I will keep track of them at my personal blog (Joyfully Retired). My commitment post is here: Joyfully Retired.

This will give me a chance to do reviews of books I read last year and read a few I didn't get too. Thanks for sponsoring this challenge.

This challenge sounds epic!
I hope I am not too late to participate!
Will make a post soon.
