What an awesome post!! Thanks for sharing this list, it's definitely getting my wheels turning. I love the 5 Books to Read If You Liked XXX Movie...I might have to write that one soon!

Alysia @My Little Pocketbooks | September 27, 2012 9:02 PM | Reply

This sooo crazy that you have this topic for Bloggiesta! One, you and your blog are perfect for this topic and two, I was thinking about this yesterday. My blog has become so impersonal and I am planning on making a few changes for 2013. One big change will be fewer book tours. I love them but they are making me lazy. I don't have to think just cut and paste. :) LOL!

These are great topics and I love how most of them follow your list theme.

Alethea | September 28, 2012 4:55 AM | Reply

Nice! This isn't usually my kind of thing, but I really like the "10 Book to Movie Adaptations Coming in 2013" idea. I think there might even be 13, haha! I'll comment again if I can get my post up in time for the challenge :) Thanks for these great prompts!

Charlie | September 28, 2012 6:44 AM | Reply

Good variety of topics! Posts with lists make for good discussions, though I personally find I forget I can write them.

Vicky @ Books, Biscuits, and Tea | September 28, 2012 7:02 AM | Reply

Brilliant post! I was actually looking for new discussion topics for my blog so you helped me an awful lot! :) I'll probably be using 10 Books on Your Winter/ Fall/ Spring / Summer Reading List and 5 Books To Get Cozy Under the Covers With in Winter. :)

Great advice on using images, sometimes a wall of text is just so uninviting to readers!

These are some awesome topics! Some aren't entirely applicable to the kind of blog I keep, but there are many that definitely inspired me! I feel some opinion pieces coming on!

Wow. You are full of great ideas! Discussion post idea are something I always struggle with. I can write them, but coming up with the ideas is so difficult for me! I can't thank you enough! Here's the list I plan to use: http://www.smashattackreads.com/2012/09/bloggiesta-bitches-2/

I need to make some major changes to my blog in the next coming months. This is a post that will really help me. I need to decide just exactly what I want to focus on, what types of posts are important to me, and how I can engage people in discussion more. Love to read your tips!

Marina | September 28, 2012 2:51 PM | Reply

This is a wonderful list :) I created a really full blogging schedule for myself, but I really want to fit the following post topics in there:

10 Books on Your Winter/ Fall/ Spring / Summer Reading List (at the beginning of the season)
5 Favorite Books of Winter/ Fall/ Spring/ Summer (at the end of the season)
10 Book to Movie Adaptations Coming in 2013
10 Most Memorable Characters from Books Read in 2012

Kristilyn (Reading in Winter) | September 28, 2012 3:26 PM | Reply

Great lists! I love the themed ones, like a summer reading list, or books to cozy up with in the winter.

Discussion posts never have to be very detailed and confusing -- sometimes it's great to be simple!

Thanks for sharing!

Christine | September 28, 2012 5:54 PM | Reply

Great lists, Tanya. I was so inspired by your list that I made a list of 20 Discussion Posts for my blog, too! I admit that not all of them are book related though, since my blog is a mixed bag of bookish and personal related topics such as food and fitness and just general life stuff.

One of my book related discussion post ideas is to talk about keeping up with reading book series.. do you keep up? what do you do if you fall behind--reread to catch up or pick up where you left off? What series have you fallen behind in? Etc..

Thanks for the inspiration! :)

This post helped out a lot! In fact, I am going to bookmark it so I can go back and create some discussion posts topics based off of this list.

Here is the link to the topic I posted today: http://ladybluejay.com/2012/09/28/my-top-8-book-to-movie-apdatations-for-2013/

Discussion posts are something I really need on my blog. I want to get my readers more involved but was never really certain where to start. I like the idea of book to movie discussion and I think I will use that on my blog, maybe the 2nd saturday of each month sounds good! Thanks so much for the ideas!

Jennifer | September 29, 2012 12:40 AM | Reply

This is a great post! I love lists :) I really like discussion posts, especially if you can get your readers discussing the topic right along with you. I recently posted about how I'm trying to find my own blogging voice and I had so many wonderful comments :)

Catrion | September 29, 2012 4:12 AM | Reply

This is such a good post, thank you for all of these ideas!
I am certainly lacking in the discussion area, so I am hoping to do a few of these within the next few months.
I particularly love the '10 covers that terrify' one! May just use that next month :D And also '5 books with a love triangle where the right guy won'!

Love your post here! I have the worst time coming up with blog entry ideas that aren't my usual memes or my reviews. You have some great ideas here! There's a strong chance #22 will be appearing in my blog sometime in the near future. Thanks! :)

This is such a helpful post!! I love your ideas for your Movie category, I'm definitely going to be doing the "5 Books You'll Love if You loved this movie". I think the Avengers is a great one to do!! One of my Bloggiesta goals is to get some discussion posts going, so this post will definitely help me out with some new ideas!

Thank you so much for these fantastic ideas!!

I don't do a lot of posts like these but I always enjoy them when I read them on other people's blogs. My problem is never being able to remember back to what books I would add, not that I don't like the lists! But I do think 15 and 27 are doable and I'll definitely be looking at doing both of them this fall.

Thanks so much!

Ahhh!! Thank you so much for this one!! I've been looking for new discussion post ideas!! One of my goals for Bloggiesta is to get some discussion posts scheduled for October! I'm not sure what I'll be using yet for the posts, but I will be using something!

Kami Furr | September 29, 2012 10:43 PM | Reply

Great post! It gave me a lot of ideas. I think I'm going to start doing a post for each holiday season. I'll post books that are great to read during that certain holiday.

I keep an ongoing list of posts to write about and I absolutely adore that you not only do this as well, but SHARED some. Adding topics that I've missed. Sweet.

Daniela | September 30, 2012 3:38 PM | Reply

This is such a great post! There are some really awesome topics here, which have been added to my in-progress list of ideas for discussion posts. A couple of these will probably be written soon. :)

Jenni Elyse | September 30, 2012 4:16 PM | Reply

Great ideas! I especially like the character vs. character or book vs. book idea you had.

Hollie @ Music, Books and Tea | September 30, 2012 5:32 PM | Reply

Such an awesome post! I'll definitely be writing up '10 Authors I First Read in 2012 and Want to Read More From.' And the Character vs. Character idea is brilliant, I can already think of a couple of posts for that too! Thank you so much for these ideas!

Cayce | September 30, 2012 5:59 PM | Reply

So many great ideas! Book vs Book is my favorite from your list. I might do that later. :)
I'm also thinking of doing a Top Ten Books I've Re-read list.
And next week I'm going to do a 5 Contemporary Japanese Books You Should Read post.
And I'm planning to use lots of photos! :)

Thanks for the tips!

Great post! Thank you so much for the great ideas! I'm definitely going to use several of your Top Ten suggestions!

These are some great ideas. I feel my discussion topics are rather unimaginative. In fact, I hardly ever get any comments on my posts at all. So I'm going to share a list of 5 Books That Made Me Laugh in 2012. I already have two books for the list.

Tammy dahle | September 30, 2012 8:51 PM | Reply

LOVE this mini challenge!
I got a few awesome ideas-two that grabbed my attention right away-
1. Dystopian (or Apocalyptic) Novels That Will Make You Scared For the Future.
AND
2. Horrible Apocalyptic Events From Books That Left Me Scared For the Future.
I'll do both this posts closer to halloween and give a couple of dystopian books away.
Thanks for the great ideas!!

Lisa | September 30, 2012 10:26 PM | Reply

This is excellent. I like the theme ideas and book versus movie ones. I definitely need to work on more discussion posts.

Jennifer Lane | November 6, 2012 12:37 PM | Reply

Guess what? You're the first url I "pocketed"! Aren't you excited? LOL Great ideas and I particularly liked:

25) 10 Young Adult Books That Even Grown-Ups Will Like.
26) 10 Adult Fiction Books That Young Adult Readers Will Like.
