This has been the summer of having a green smoothie in the mornings. The fresh ingredients jump-start my day with a boost of energy that is unparalleled.
A Morning (J)ump-Start Hemp Milk Green Smoothie
I’m a big believer in having slow mornings and the summer is a perfect time to get up a little extra early to get some me time in … mostly because the sun is out so early in the Mid-West. And this smoothie … this hemp milk smoothie … has been giving me an energy boost like nothing else!
+ Spinach (1 cup)
+ Blueberries (1/4 cup)
+ Raspberries (1/4 cup)
+ Banana (1/2 – frozen)
+ Pacific Original Unsweetened Hemp “Milk” (1/2 cup)
+ Better Body Foods Chia Seeds (1 Tbsp)
I don’t really measure ingredients – so take those measurements above as approximations. Add everything to a blender and whizz for a few minutes. I use and LOVE the Oster MyBlend Blender. It’s a blender with a portable sports-bottle.
If your smoothie comes out too thick … add more liquid and blend some more.
Not enough flavor … add more berries.
Chia seeds not only provide a little nutritional boost, but also acts as a thickener.
Since I like my smoothies cold, I always have some bananas frozen in a baggie in the freezer (make sure you break the banana into smaller pieces before you freeze). Frozen berries would work too.
