#AMonthofFaves – Best Books I Read in 2021

Kim here. Over on Instagram I shared a series of favorites posts recently. I thought I would highlight the books that hit the very tip top of my favorites list in 2021 here on the blog too.

Red, White, and Royal Blue, Casey McQuiston

Okay, I don’t love contemporary romcoms but this one was getting so much buzz that I decided to pick it up. It was the first book I read in 2021 and I was surprised that I loved it so much. Sometimes romcoms are just too cringey and unrealistic for me but this was kinda nice!

A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World, C.A. Fletcher

This was one of the very few audiobooks I listened to in 2021 and I was completely immersed in this adventurous story. It’s been a long time since I read a good dystopian so I loved this.

Hairpin Bridge, Taylor Adams

After reading the author’s debut novel, No Exit, last year, I knew I had to pick up this newest publication. It’s a thriller exactly like I like them- twisty and a bit dark. I was biting my nails during this one.

Check Please 1 & 2, Ngozi Ukazu

Ugh. Could these graphic novels be any more sincere and sweet?! The characters, including the supporting characters, are so well written. The storyline follows a perfect arc that had me crying and cheering equally. I loved them so much.

Just Mercy, Bryan Stevenson

I read five non-fiction titles this year and they all made my favorites list. I’m highlighting this one because it is the one that I continue to think about and continue to reference when I talk to other people. It’s heartbreaking, frustrating, and full of hope. I went through the gambit of emotions reading this.

These sound fabulous! I haven’t read a great dystopian novel in some time.

    1. @Joanne I do love a good dystopian!

  2. I’ve just added my list today. I love to browse lists of people’s favorite reads. Thank you!

    1. @Deb I love seeing everyone’s favorites too!

  3. I shared my list from earlier this month. I meant to participate, but then…life intervened. I have added other lists I’ve done too to the Inlinkz, so even though I didn’t officially participate this year, I did participate unofficially.

    1. @Bryan Totally get it! December is busy and I’m still trying to get around to visiting blogs of those that participated.
