One of the most awesome things about the book blogging community is all the events that you can participate in. Here are a few that you can join in August.
August #BookBlogger Events
Spanish Lit Month in July, German Lit Month in November and Month in August. And then there is the All August/All Virago project happening in just a few months.
Aug. 1-31. Women in Translation Month. Celebrate by posting on your blog and social media using #WITMonth
Aug. 1-31. ARC August. Any Advanced Reading Copy counts as part of this reading challenge including your backlist books. There will also be twitter chats and giveaways. Use #ARCAugust on social media posts.
Aug. 1-31. Austen in August. This is a one-month event focused on all things Jane Austen, including her primary texts, any re-imaginings of her works, biographies, critical texts, etc. #AusteninAugust
Aug. 6-13. The Make Me Read It Read-a-thon. Look at the books you own and pick out a few you really want to read, or feel like you should read. Make a list of these books and post them. Then get friends, other bloggers/booktubers/bookstagrammers etc. to vote on which books you HAVE to read.
Aug. 21-27. Bout of Books. A week-long read-a-thon. There are challenges and more – it’s a very community oriented event, so sign up and read!

May 26 – Sep. 4. 2017 Big Book Summer Reading Challenge. How many 400+ page books can you read from Memorial Day to Labor Day. I look forward to this challenge every year!
Jun. 1 – Aug. 31. BookBub’s Summer Reading Challenge. 12 weeks 12 categories. 12 books … that’s just Level 1. Level 2 & 3 require you read 2 or 3 books for each category.
Jun. 1 – Sep. 3. 20 Books of Summer. You can participate in this challenge by choosing your own – 10, 15 or 20 – books to read this summer. Make a list, and link back to the original post. Then hashtag the hell out of your progress #20booksofsummer.
Jun. 3- Sep. 3. – Summer Reading Challenge. There are 10 categories + a bonus one. Do as many as you can.
Jun. 20 – Sep. 21. Sci-Fi Summer Reading. Read any book of at least 100 pages that is classified as Science Fiction, including any Sci-Fi subgenres.
Major Book Awards in August
August 11, 2017. Winners of The Hugo Awards for the best in Science Fiction will be announced.

This is such a comprehensive list! The Reading Quest is another challenge taking place in August, and runs through early September, if you’re interested in adding that too. It’s hosted by readatmidnight.com. I’ll definitely be looking into a bunch of these!
