I just finished listening to the audiobook of Children of Blood and Bone, Tomi Adeyemi narrated by Bahni Turpin – and it was so …. SOOOO … guhhhdddd! I’m now suffering from an audiobook listening hangover – yes … that’s a thing!
So about Children of Blood and Bone … First off – if you can listen to the audiobook narrated by Bahni Turpin – do it! The accent that Turpin uses helps immerse us in the experience of this African based magical story. She was MASTERFUL of distinguishing each character and giving them life. I completely fell in love! So where do I go from here, now that I’ve finished?! I feel completely paralyzed. Which audiobook can I listen to that won’t be a let down?
Do I listen to another audiobook narrated by Bahni Turpin – because she is so awesome?!
Let me tell you – I’ve already listened to quite a few … like The Hate U Give, Angie Thomas which is on my list of Popular Books Worth The Hype. And The Underground Railroad, Colson Whitehead – one of our Top 15 Books that Blew Our Minds Last Year. Both are brilliantly written and narrated as well.

Or do I pick another non-Western science fiction & fantasy? I already have a list of 3 Awesome Non-Western Cultural Fantasy Books – the first 2 I listened to as audiobooks.
Or do I listen to an Audie Award winner?
What do you recommend? Have you listened to any awesome audiobooks that you think I should read stat?! What do you do after a reading hangover?

I haven’t seen Children of Blood and Bone at the library for weeks. It looks like everyone’s been enjoying it!

Okay, I was debating whether to do this on Audio or not because, to me, Bahni was such a specific voice that sometimes it’s hard for me to see the characters, but I may check it out now!

I was planning to get a print copy of Children of Blood and Bone, but I keep hearing how amazing the audio is and I’m torn! Maybe listening to some podcasts can help with your hangover?

I would probably listen to a book in a series that I like. That’s what I do when I’m stuck for a new audiobook. Good luck finding your next listen!
Also, your review has intrigued me. I keep trying to avoid fantasy and yet…sigh.

I am in line at the library for this book but now I think I may just buy it with an audible credit and listen to it instead. Thanks for the heads up! I listened to both The Hate U Give and The Underground Railroad so i know I will like it!
