I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I’m #TeamSummer! I found this guide at Conde Naste Traveler and adapted it as a way to encourage me to get outside and enjoy the season as much as I can. At the end of the summer, I’ll check in to share how much of the list I completed. What are your summer plans?!
Spend as much time outside as possible
- 1. Plan elaborate picnics
- 2. Go to an outdoor concert
- 3. Catch a movie at the drive-in
- 4. Host a barbecue
- 5. Sign up for a group tour (or group experience)
- 6. Take an “active” vacation
- 7. Visit state parks
- 8. Drive a convertible with the top down
- 9. Watch the sunset (not at home)
- 10. Watch a sunrise (not at home)
Eat and drink at your favorite summer spots – and discover new ones
- 11. Experience a city through its food tours
- 12. Dine inside the best restaurants
- 13. Discover – and celebrate – America’s many food cultures (50 States, 50 Cuisines)
- 14. Drink a cold beer at a local brewery
- 15. Drink some fancy cocktails
- 16. Go to a rooftop bar or restaurant
- 17. Try at least 5 different flavors of ice cream
- 18. Eat all the summer fruits
- 19. Go to a romantic candlelit dinner
Learn how to move your body after a long winter
- 20. Ride at least 100 miles outside
- 21. Run (or walk) in at least 5 different places
- 22. Try out mountain biking or trail running
- 23. Learn how to play pickle ball or tennis or any other racquet sport
- 24. Hone your roller skating skills
- 25. Go to a yoga class that’s outside – in a park, on the beach et c.
Be on (or near) a body of water
- 26. Take adult swim lessons and learn how to open water swim
- 27. Go out on a boat / river cruise
- 28. Make the most of America’s beautiful beaches and swimming holes
- 29. Take surf, kayak, SUP or any water sport lessons
- 30. Go fishing
- 31. Soak in a hot spring
- 32. Lounge all day on a beach or by a pool
Ditch the WFH sweats … or not
- 33. Upgrade cycling kit to pro looking gear
- 34. Upgrade running gear
- 35. Find swimwear that actually feels good
- 36. Have a stay-cation at home all day – pajamas are mandatory.
- 37. Read all the books
Go on Overnight Trips Near and Far
- 38. Plan a getaway to a new state or country
- 39. Go on a road trip
- 40. Explore the country’s national parks
- 41. Book a spa getaway
- 42. Tour a vineyard
And Finally …
- 43. Take pictures of everything and have fun!
